an early morning treat

This photo, and the one below, were taken after a 4-hour flight from Chicago to Los Angeles, followed by a 13-hour flight to Sydney. We landed in Australia at 6AM, more than a bit jet-lagged — and having to endure the tail end of a group of women on holiday: too much champagne. You don't want to know the details of that little episode. We had a 4-hour layover before a 3-hour flight to Cairns, and the benches thoughtfully provided by the airport were too inviting to pass up.

But the day-long flights were worth it: Australia is a beautiful place.
