I used to see an African-American family (Mother, father, and three kids) digging up dandilion in a field on the south side of the University campus here.
They would be out there once every couple of weeks.
I assume they ate them, but I guess they might have made some wine as well.
ah, but pick the flower buds before they open, rinse, then saute in butter til they pop....delish!!!
and dandelion root tea is great for lots of ailments....maybe that's what allan's family was doing.
