what is the surface this flamewood is on? just curious.
and did you pick it up to take it home?
It's a piece of driftwood we saw on the beach. Probably alder - we have an alder stump in our yard that had the same color for a while. I think the wood needs to be wet, and somewhat freshly exposed, to get the coloring (the stump in the yard is no longer like this). So we just left it for the waves and tide.
