We'd just returned to New Jersey after a decade in Chicago, and needed some way to re-introduce ourselves to friends and people we used to work with. (Not to mention helping our neighbors discover druid labs parties.) And what better way than to ritually disembowel helpless veggies? In a socially accepted fashion, of course.
