These are images that have previously graced the druid labs front page.
A pair of Carolina wrens has made a nest just outside our kitchen door. First: Yes, that's our telescope sitting idle in the corner, covered by a large kitchen garbage bag. Second: A closer shot, where you can clearly see what caught my eye a week ago - seeming detritus inside the bag. I'd figured that wind had blown the leaves in, since I didn't think a mouse or chipmunk would have been able to climb the metal legs of the tripod. Third: A close-up of the nest, showing the "hole", characteristic of Carolina wren nests. Finally: That's me holding the bag open to get a better perspective on the location, size, and precarious nature of the nest. |
