ceramic waste pipe

Photo: A ceramic tube made to look like a segment of a sewage pipe.

This is another piece from the ceramics class that spawned Ceramic Man, and was built using the same process.

I used different glazes to get the copper patina and corroded metal effects. The notches in the top and bottom rings were intended to hold fiberglass rods to serve as legs, but they weren't very pleasing. Fortunately, the epoxy I used didn't adhere well to the rods and they fell off. Unfortunately, the epoxy did adhere - quite permanently - to the fired glaze, which is why there's this yellow goop on the piece.

Ceramic Waste Pipe now serves as a stick-incense holder in our bedroom.
